Accreditation & Licensure

The Center for Religion and Psychotherapy has been accredited as a clinical and educational site by the American Association of Pastoral Counselors (AAPC) since 1965. Stringent reaccreditation site visits are conducted every seven years to insure that all quality standards of the Institutional Accreditation Committee are met.

Staff members are licensed by the state of Illinois as clinical professional counselors, clinical social workers, or psychologists. Some staff members are, in addition, certified Members, Fellows, or Diplomates of the AAPC.

AAPC was founded in 1963 as an organization which certifies Pastoral Counselors, accredits pastoral counseling centers, and approves training programs. It is an interfaith organization representing in pastoral counseling work more than 80 faith groups including the Protestant, Catholic, and Jewish faiths. It is non-sectarian and respects the spiritual commitments and religious traditions of those who seek assistance without imposing counselor beliefs onto the client.
